Two full behavioral rounds — mid-level and senior — with the interviewer's follow-ups, notes and scores.
Advice is easy to agree with. Hearing a whole round is what shows you what "good" sounds like. Below are two complete behavioral interviews with the interviewer's follow-ups and private notes. The first is a mid-level backend engineer; the second a senior engineer whose round decides between senior and staff.
How a 45-minute round is spent
Three or four questions in 30 minutes means each story gets 7–10 minutes including follow-ups. Your two-minute answer is only the start.
Interview 1: mid-level backend engineer
Interviewer: Thanks for joining. Could you start by telling me a bit about yourself?
Interview 2: senior engineer (senior vs staff)
Interviewer: Tell me about the most ambiguous problem you've worked on.

Key takeaways
- In a 45-minute round each story gets 7–10 minutes with follow-ups; the two-minute answer is the opening.
- Interviewers probe your exact part, your reasons, what went wrong, and what you'd do at a larger scale.
- Admitting partial wrongness and correcting "we" honestly raise scores.
- The level decision rests on scope: owning a project, versus defining one and aligning teams, versus setting direction across an organisation.
